Greenfield Priest Placed on Administrative Leave

By Allison Schubert, Point Park News Service

The Rev. Joseph Reschick of St. Rosalia Parish in the Greenfield neighborhood was placed on administrative leave Saturday night, according to Pittsburgh Catholic Diocese Spokesman Reverend Nicholas Vaskov.

Reschick, 67, received notice from Bishop David Zubik that he was accused of sexual assault of a minor dating back to the mid-80s, but Reschick immediately denied the allegations.

Zubik said that the administrative leave was to ensure enough time for the Allegheny County District Attorney to investigate the allegations. Zubik also reminded the public that the leave does not immediately imply guilt.

During this leave, Reschick may not celebrate sacraments, dress or otherwise appear as a priest or organize a mass of any kind.

The Bishop and the Diocese of Pittsburgh will update the public as the investigation continues.
